DOSS ALERT: NMLS System Updates Effective April 18, 2026
ACTION REQUIRED
The Nationwide Multistate Licensing System (NMLS) has announced key system changes that will take effect on April 18, 2026, impacting both individual licensees and company users.
What’s Changing?
Updated Individual Disclosure Questions (MU4/MU2)
Individuals submitting MU4 or MU2 forms will be required to review and complete revised disclosure questions within NMLS. Early review is strongly recommended to avoid delays or deficiencies during filing.
Enhanced Employment Reporting Management Process
NMLS will introduce an enhanced process where company relationship data automatically populates the Employment History section of individual forms (MU4, MU2, MU4R). This change will primarily impact company users and requires proactive validation of employment records to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Key Compliance Deadline
To prepare for the 2027 renewal period, all updates must be completed no later than August 31, 2026. Failure to comply may result in delayed filings or potential compliance issues.
What You Should Do – Starting April 18
- Review updated disclosure questions in NMLS
- Validate and reconcile employment history records
- Coordinate with internal compliance and licensing teams
- Begin updates well in advance of the August 31 deadline
Key Considerations
These NMLS updates are not merely procedural, they are time-sensitive and material to your ability to maintain licensure. All required disclosure updates must be completed prior to the renewal period. Failure to do so may prevent timely renewal filings and could result in license deficiencies, suspension, or even revocation.
These changes introduce increased data standardization and oversight within NMLS. Therefore, all licensees should act early to ensure readiness and avoid disruptions during the upcoming renewal cycle.
Do not let NMLS updates or other compliance requirements delay your ability to operate.
